Trends widely reported by paperhangers across the country is the installation of focal or accent walls. People are making a big statement on one wall with patterns such as large floral, bold colors or big geometric. One client likened the focal wall to spending the money for the wall rather than a piece of art.

An up- and- coming personalized wall-covering is Trove paper, which offers a digital print that requires trimming and looks and installs like a mural. The paper is custom-printed to make the dimensions of the room. A custom-printed room is not a new idea, having been done by hand-painted or silk mural manufacturers for years, but with the advent of digital printing, it becomes an affordable reality for up-scales homes. While not inexpensive, the price is much less than that of a hand-painted mural, and custom-printed paper is easier to install, saving on the cost of labor.

Hunter Douglas is delighted to announce that select Duette Achitella and Alustra Duette Architella honeycomb shades may qualify as energy-efficient products under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, eligible for a Federal Tax Credit of up to $1,500. This tax credit is in effect for qualifying Duette Architella and Alustra Duette Architella purchases retroactive to January 1, 2009, and continuing through the end of 2010.

The tax credit applies to 30 percent of the product purchase price of select Architella shades, up to a maximum of $1,500, when purchased and installed January 1, 2009, through December 31,2010. Highly-insulating  Duette Architella shades with their patented honey-comb-within-a-honeycomb construction can reduce energy loss through windows by up to 50 percent.
