Selecting Your Motorized Window Treatment

Begin by choosing the window treatment style that you favor. For ideas, browse the room scenes featured in the center of this guide. Consider your needs for privacy and light control, style and room characteristics.

When selecting your finials, brackets, holdbacks, pole, rods, traverse rods, sconces and rings, you may want to ask yourself the following questions to ensure that the drapery hardware complements your room decor and that it performs the function you want it to:

* Will the hardware accommodate the draw draperies, tab tops, curatins, swags, and valance I want to use?

* Will it coordinate with the style and room characteristics to enhance the look that I’m trying to achieve?

* Does the finish complement my room color scheme? Is the hardware scale proportionate to the room or windows?

* Does it coordinate with other furnishings?

* Do I want to frame the view or conceal it? Do I need privacy? All the time or some of the time?

* Is light control a factor? For comfort, for sleeping or to protect my furnishings from fading?

* Is energy control a concern? What direction does the window face? Into Sun? Into the prevailing wind?

You may achieve the best results if you take fabric and paint samples home to judge them in the light and room where they’ll be used. Shop with sketches and written window measurements. Or simply call the experts at DC Window Automation  for a Free in Home appointment at 630-325-7716.

Fabric Upholstered Walls

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 4:11 pm

Upholstered wall panels serve a variety of purposes in the home and can add a touch of opulence to any interior space. Historically, upholstered walls came into fashion as practical way to add warmth and insulation to larger homes. They became a symbol of wealth because of the extravagant embossed and gilded leathers, brocades and tapestries used to add color and pattern. In fact, wallpaper originated out of an attempt to emulate the effects of fabric wall treatments without the high cost.

Today, with fabric available at all price points, upholstered walls are making a comeback. Fabric paneling can be used to cover a damaged or uneven wall and provide soundproofing and insulation for more intimate spaces. Decorative fabrics make panels a focal point and can take place of artwork in your home. They can also be easily changed out to update the look and fee of the room. So, why not explore the idea of using upholstered wall panels in your home?
